GENERAL INFORMATION

STUDENTS:  BHS will run a 7 period day on Tuesday and Wednesday and have finals on Thursday and Friday.  Ms. Rusk


THE WARRIOR OUTLET will be selling Warrior Gear this Thursday, Jan 19th,  starting at 5:30 for the home Wrestling, Gymnastic, and Swimming meets. Come stock up on your Warrior Spirit wear! Cash or check only.  See you there!


THE CONSERVATION CORPS of MN is accepting applications for students age 15-18 who are interested in a one month paid summer work experience near Hinckley, MN. Candidates will work hard in an outdoor setting in the areas of conservation, education and recreation.  Food, lodging, transportation and a weekly $250 stipend are provided.  More info available in the Student Success Center Scholarship Drawer or online.


CONGRATULATIONS to the Brainerd Debate Team who competed this past weekend at the Minnesota State Debate Tournament.  In Lincoln Douglas Debate, Camryn Schmidt went 4-2 and was ranked 10th in the state, while Maddie Schuld went 3-3 and ranked 15th.  In Public Forum Debate, Luke Norquist and Daniel Stokes went 3-3 and finished 10th in the state while Kyle Hensel and Patrick Meyer went 3-3 and finished 14th in the state.  This was the best showing that Brainerd has had at the state tournament in the past 20 years!


COME SEE A FREE performance of the short One Act “I Don't Want to Talk About It.” Performances will be Thursday, January 19 at 2:30 after finals, and Saturday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. All performances will be in the Little Theatre. Hope to see you there!

THREE BHS STUDENTS are going to the Presidential Inauguration with Minnesota 4-H next week!  Emelia Hinrichs, Madeline Hinrichs and Kirsten Schroer will be joining 45 youth from across Minnesota and 540 youth from across America to experience Washington D.C., the Presidential Inauguration and an Inaugural Ball.  If you see them in the hall, give them a high 5!


SENIORS!  Train to become an Emergency Medical Technician this summer!  For $1500, CLC and Camp Ripley are offering an EMT Boot Camp June 4-18, 2017.  Students must be 18, able to lift 75 lbs and pass a background check to qualify. Stop by the Student Success Center for more information.

GENERAL INFORMATION

CONGRATULATIONS to the Brainerd Debate Team who competed this past weekend at the Minnesota State Debate Tournament.  In Lincoln Douglas Debate, Camryn Schmidt went 4-2 and was ranked 10th in the state, while Maddie Schuld went 3-3 and ranked 15th.  In Public Forum Debate, Luke Norquist and Daniel Stokes went 3-3 and finished 10th in the state while Kyle Hensel and Patrick Meyer went 3-3 and finished 14th in the state.  This was the best showing that Brainerd has had at the state tournament in the past 20 years!

  • The MN Power's Community Involvement Scholarship is due January 15!  This $2,000 award is open to BHS seniors who live in the MN Power Service area.  That's all of you!  


  • The MN Association of Honor Societies and the MN Association of Student Councils are offering $500 scholarships.   Local applications are due January 20.

CONGRATULATIONS BRAINERD DEBATE TEAM for a fantastic showing at last week's Section 5 debate tournament.  All four entries qualified for state!  In public forum, Kyle Hensel and Patrick Meyer went 5-1 and took second while

Luke Norquist and Danny Stokes took 4th with a 4-2 record. In Lincoln-Douglas debate Camryn Schmidt went 4-2 and took 4th while Maddie Schuld earned 5th place with a 4-2 record.  Good luck at the state tournament!

GENERAL INFORMATION

PLEASE CONGRATULATE Mitch Andres, Boys Hockey Warrior Athlete of the Week.


SENIOR PHOTOS:  The deadline for senior photos will be extended until Friday, January 13th.   THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE LAST CHANCE TO GET THEM IN.  Please  email your photos to joseph.wagner@isd181.org.


ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK SOON!  WE SOLD OUT LAST YEAR!  January 27th is the last chance to order your yearbook for $55.  It is also the last chance to order personalized books with name stamping and icons.  After the 27th, yearbooks will only be available at the normal price of $60.


SENIORS! View the Scholarship List online! Go to bhs.isd181.org, click on Academics, then Student Success Center, then Scholarships.  You will find TONS of local scholarships.  


Be sure to apply for the following scholarships if you qualify!


  • The MN-Dakotas Kiwanis Educational Foundation Inc. Scholarship for $865 is due Jan 13!


  • The $20,000 Marshall and Nellie Alworth Scholarship is due January 15th.  TEN BHS seniors won this scholarship last year!  It's the real deal.  


  • The Triple "A" Application is due January 6!  A local committee may select one male and one female student to represent BHS that have excelled in Academics, Arts and Athletics.  


  • The MN Association of Honor Societies and the MN Association of Student Councils are offering $500 scholarships.   Local applications are due January 20.   


  • The MN Power's Community Involvement Scholarship is due January 15!  This $2,000 award is open to BHS seniors who live in the MN Power Service area.  That's all of you!  



COMPETITIVE SPEECH TEAM:  Captains' practices are Wednesdays after school in the BHS South Campus media center. Please get signed up and make it to practice as we have some early tournament options.


DRIVERS ED classes will begin at 3:30 on Monday, January 9 in Room 907 at the South Campus. Call Community Ed (454-6924) to register, or register on line. The next class will start in late February.
