GENERAL INFORMATION

IT’S BACK!  The Brainerd District Writing Contest is the perfect chance for talented writers to shine. Deadline for entries is Wed, April 5, and 9 winners from BHS will be celebrated at a ceremony on May 30. Please see posters or English teachers for more details!


BLOOD DRIVE:  Key Club is sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, March 2. Sign up to donate during A and B lunches. Be a bud, give some blood!


THE WARRIOR OUTLET will be at the boy's basketball game this Friday selling Warrior Gear.  Go Warriors!


CONGRATULATIONS to Luke Norquist (1st place) and Maddie Schuld (2nd place) for their achievements in the American Legion Oratorical Contest.  They are now eligible to compete at the district level of this competition.  


THANKS TO SENIORS Athena Moe and Tommy Wells for representing the Bridges Career Academies in a visit with Senator Franken.  Senator Franken visited local manufacturing company Avantech with local business leaders and representatives from Central Lakes College.  Athena and Tommy are both active in school activities and awesome representatives of our Career Academy programming at BHS.


CONGRATULATIONS to seniors Matt Greatens, Adam Kleist, and

Nathanael Lockwood, who were each named National Merit Finalists this year!  They scored in the top 1% of 1.6 million students who completed the PSAT exam during their junior year of high school and were selected through a rigorous application process.   


SENIORS!  Many scholarships are due March 1, including the BHS General Scholarship application which automatically considers you for 75+ Scholarships offered through the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation.  APPLY!!!!!!


SENIORS!  The Brainerd Elks offer 3 scholarships to students planning to attend CLC.  NO ONE HAS APPLIED and they are due March 1.  Amounts range from $1,000-$1,400.  Check the Scholarship List for Brainerd Elks scholarships, and the Joe and Donna Masanz Scholarship.  


JUNIORS!  Check out the Triple Impact Competitor Scholarship offered on the Scholarship List online.  Open to Juniors who have participated in sports with a 2.5+ GPA.  A junior in 2016 won $1,000 from this organization.  APPLY!  


SENIORS!  The online Central MN Community Giving Scholarship applications are due March 1.  Numerous scholarships are available through this foundation, including the Bernick's Scholarship (open to all seniors) and the Garrison Area Scholarship for students who live in or near Garrison, or whose parents own a business in Garrison.  Be sure to apply!

THANKS TO SENIORS Athena Moe and Tommy Wells for representing the Bridges Career Academies in a visit with Senator Franken.  Senator Franken visited local manufacturing company Avantech with local business leaders and representatives from Central Lakes College.  Athena and Tommy are both active in school activities and awesome representatives of our Career Academy programming at BHS.

THE MISS BRAINERD United States State Pageant will be this coming Saturday February 18th at Tornstrom Auditorium. Doors open at 6:00 pm and seating begins at 6:30. Pageant starts at 7:00 pm. Come support and cheer on our local title holders as they compete to hopefully bring home State Titles.

SPANISH CLUB:  We will try it again!  Spanish Club invites you to meet in SC 603 after school on Monday, February 13, for some treats and hot chocolate.  Then, we will carpool over to Gregory Park to ice skate until 5pm.  Arrange for a ride to pick you up at 5pm and bring skates if you are able.  Skates may also be used for free at the Gregory Park warming house.  It's gonna be fun!


CARNATION ORDERS:  This Valentine's Day, treat someone kindly while making a difference in the world! The BHS Key Club will be taking advanced carnation orders through Monday. Flowers will be sold during lunches. They cost $1.50 each and will be delivered Valentine's Day morning. Money raised goes to Camfed, dedicated to eradicating poverty in Africa through the education of girls and the empowerment of young women.
