GENERAL INFORMATION

SUPER BOWL BREAKFAST MARCH 29:  Brainerd High School was selected through a grant to receive a free breakfast for all students.   This grant is to promote Minnesota hosting next year's Super Bowl.  The free breakfast will be on Wednesday, March 29 during 2nd Chance Breakfast.  Signs are posted throughout the buildings.  Don’t miss it!


WARRIOR DAY OF SERVICE:  The 2017 Warrior Day of Service will take place on the early out day of Wednesday, April 5. Student volunteers will go to various places in our community to help with various projects. This is an excellent chance to give back and help in our community! Get your sports team together, a club, a group of friends, or volunteer on your own!  To participate, please go to bhs.isd181.org and complete the registration form by Friday, March 31. Let’s go Warriors!!


CONGRATULATIONS to Eric Lemmer who had a successful weekend at the Minnesota Special Olympics Spring Games. Eric finished 4th in the 50 meter and 1st in the 25 meter race. Congratulations Eric!!

THE BRAINERD SPEECH TEAM had a solid showing at the NSDA National Qualifying tournament. Maddie Schuld was a finalist, Andrew Mendez made semifinals, and Camryn Schmidt took first place and earned a spot to compete at the national tournament in Birmingham, Alabama. Great job!


LAST CHANCE to order your warrior softball apparel. Orders due to Michelle Hilborn in NC main office or Lisa Lange at South Campus by Friday, March 31st. Forms can be picked up from them as well.  Thank you!


SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Camp RYLA applications are due April 25!  Stop by the Student Success Center to pick up a flier for this all expense paid summer leadership camp sponsored by our local Rotary clubs.  Camp will take place July 9-15 at the beautiful University of MN Crookston campus.

BOYS STATE/GIRLS STATE - Junior students are eligible to attend an informational meeting in the large conference room at the main entrance to BHS at 3:15 pm. Girls State meeting will be Wednesday, March 29. Boys State meeting will be Thursday, March 30.  Boys/Girls State is a practical application of Americanism and good citizenship. Members of our local American Legion will select and pay for students to represent BHS at Boys or Girls State June 11-17.  Boys State takes place at St. John's University while Girls State takes place at Bethel University in St. Paul.  


AP PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS:  AP Psychology review sessions start the first week in April.   Check your calendars and pick a WIN either April 6 or 7.


SENIORS:  The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is being offered March 29, March 30, April 6 and April 12.  The NCRC  is required to complete your Bridges Career Academy.  You can sign up in the Student Success Center or email Jama.Davidson@isd181.org. The NCRC will be held in the South Campus Computer Lab SC403 beginning at 8:20 AM and running until 5th hour.  Maximum of 35 students per session.

GREAT JOB Brainerd Competitive Speech Team for a strong performance at the Central Lakes Conference meet. Special recognition goes Anna Streed, 7th place in original oratory, Maddie Schuld 1ts, Julia Chock 2nd and Andrew Mendez 7th place in extemp speaking, Abe Albrecht 6th place in great speeches and in discussion,

Luke Norquist 3rd and Kirsten Schroer 7th place.

Advanced sign up is required.  If interested, see Shelly Streed in the Student Success Center by Friday, March 24th.

PSEO MEETING:  There is space available for the PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Option) information meeting that will be held in the cafeteria of BHS from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21. Students should sign up in advance in the Student Success Center for the PSEO session.


AP CAPSTONE: All students interested in registering for the AP Seminar and AP Research courses for next year should attend a brief informational meeting in Mr. Hewitt's room (A164) on TUESDAY, MARCH 21st, at 8:00 am. CONGRATULATIONS to the Brainerd High School Knowledge Bowl Teams for another successful year.  We qualified 6 out 7 teams to the Regions Tournament that was held on Thursday, March 9th.  Brainerd's team "Thassafrath" took first place and will be advancing to the State Tournament on April 6th and 7th.  Kyle Hensel, Sam Dirks, and Matt Greatens competed two contestants short.  The team will be joining together once again to compete at the State Tournament.  Good luck at State!


GIRL’S GOLF:  There will be a meeting for anyone Interested in Girl's Golf on Tuesday, March 21st at 3:30 in the North Campus Choir Room. If you cannot attend or have questions, please see Coach Aulie in the Choir Room.


BOY’S GOLF MEETING:  All boys interested in varsity and junior varsity golf please report to Mr. Nelson's room (under the library) at BHS on Tuesday, March 21st at 3:30. The meeting will last until 4:00. No clubs needed.      Coach Wallace


BRAINERD BOYS TENNIS will start on MONDAY, March 27th, 2017.  Eligibility papers and athletic fee must be turned in before participation, March 27th.  Any questions regarding eligibility paperwork or fee -stop by and check with Michelle in the Activities Office.  Be prepared to practice either inside or outside.  Have warm clothes, racquet, tennis shoes ready for the start of our season.  Questions or concerns, see Ms. Fussy.


LACROSSE:  Lacrosse practice to begin Monday, April 3 at 5:30 pm on the field :)

GENERAL INFORMATION

BRAINERD COMPETITIVE SPEECH TEAM:  Great job at the Maple Grove Speech Tournament on the 12th. In discussion Kirsten Schroer took 2nd and Luke Norquist 1st in honor finals, in extemp speaking Maddie Schuld finished 1st, Camryn Schmidt 2nd, Julia Chock 6th and Emily Severson 7th and  Andrew Mendez took 2nd in honor finals. Great job!


PSEO MEETING:  There is space available for the PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Option) information meeting that will be held in the cafeteria of BHS from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21. Students should sign up in advance in the Student Success Center for the PSEO session.


AP CAPSTONE: All students interested in registering for the AP Seminar and AP Research courses for next year should attend a brief informational meeting in
