GENERAL INFORMATION:

AFTER SCHOOL JOB OPPORTUNITY:  Nisswa Fun  ‘N’ Friends after school program has a Program Assistant position open.  Applicants must be available to work 2:30 - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday on

day’s school is in session.  Help mentor and supervise children in K-4th grade.  Assist in planning, organizing and leading social, recreational and enrichment activities on a daily basis.  For more information and to apply, contact Lisa Stawarski at 454-6953 or stop by the WESB Fun ‘N’ Friends office in room 117 before or after school.

Mr. Engen’s Math Classes are collecting gently used paperbacks (no romance novels, please) and DVDs 

to ship to soldiers. Money is also being collected for the shipping costs (about 25 cents per paperback).  All donations can be dropped off in Room A125 or Room D18.  Thank You very much for supporting our

soldiers!

GENERAL INFORMATION:

WARRIOR T-SHIRTS will be sold during both lunches Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, November 25th, 26th and 27th.  Cost is $7 per T Shirt and has the new warriors logo on it. Go Warriors!


OPERATION PAPERBACK:  Please consider helping provide entertainment for soldiers overseas and in military hospitals!  From November 25 through December 9, Ms. Hegstrom's Social Studies Classes and Mr. Engen’s Math Classes are collecting gently used paperbacks (no romance novels, please) and DVDs to ship to soldiers. A CHRISTMAS MADRIGAL DINNER will take place December 12 & 13, 6:00 pm at the Legacy Golf Course Clubhouse Pavilion on Hwy 77.  Start your Christmas with a Renaissance Feast. Come back to a time when an evening of entertainment, music and laughter revolved around a sumptuous feast fit for a King.  Be welcomed by the King and his court, entertained by the Court Jester and Band of Actors, and enjoy the music of the roving minstrels, carolers and choir. Tickets are $35 and available at Brainerd High School North from Shirley in the Main Office.  Tickets may also be ordered by phone with a credit card  at 218-454-6200x5.  Cash, check and credit cards are accepted.  Seating is reserved and sorry, but no ticket sales at the door.

CONGRATULATIONS BRAINERD DEBATERS for a fantastic showing at this weekend's tournament in St. Francis, Minnesota.  Special recognition goes to Miriam Pritschet, who went undefeated and took 1st place and Jordan Kleist, who took 3rd in varsity Lincoln/Douglas, and Nick Bauer, who took 2nd and Adam Kleist, who took 4th in novice Lincoln/Douglas.


THE INTERACT CLUB will be selling “Hands for Haiyan” sheets on November 22nd, 25th, and 26th before school for $1. We will be accepting your decorated “Hands for Haiyan” each of these mornings, and will hang them in the hall across from the lunchroom.  Our goal is to fundraise $500 to provide relief for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Prizes will be award to two people with the best decorated hand. There is no limit on how many you can buy! Please show thanks this thanksgiving, and help those in need. Hands for Haiyan is about helping others, and being appreciative for what we have. Those that experienced the horrors by typhoon Haiyan have lost nearly everything, and we need to show support. As a fundraiser for the Haiyan Victims relief fund.

Please remember that costumes should be school appropriate and all hair/makeup etc should be done AT HOME before school.

NORTH CAMPUS HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST: Thursday, October 31st, photos will be taken for the contest before school at the Media Center by Ms. Lively. You will receive a Halloween treat when you bring a can of non-perishable food to any entrance door. Categories for costume contest are: best homemade, best future career, best group. Prizes for the best costumes will be first through fifth place in each category. There will be one grand prize winner overall. Staff awards for the above categories 1st - 3rd. Prizes will be announced at the end of the day so listen to the announcements! Prizes can be picked up in the Main Office.

A CHRISTMAS MADRIGAL DINNER will take place December 12 & 13, 6:00 pm

at the Legacy Golf Course Clubhouse Pavilion on Hwy 77.  Start your Christmas with a Renaissance Feast.  Come back to a time when an evening of entertainment, music and laughter revolved around a sumptuous feast fit for a King.  Be welcomed by the King and his court, entertained by the Court Jester and Band of Actors, and enjoy the music of the roving minstrels, carolers and choir. DEBATE: Superb performance Brainerd debaters at Tuesday night's invitational tournament.  In novice Lincoln Douglas debate, Camryn Schmidt took first place, Adam Kleist took 2nd, and Nick Bauer took 3rd. In Novice public forum, Luke Norquist and Lydia Halbach took 1st and Sarah Kleist and Sam Dirks took 2nd place with 4-0 records, and Ronan Pritschet and Isaac Esslinger came in 4th. In open public forum, Danny Stokes and Patrick Meyers went 4-0 to take first, Rachel Dallman and Amanda Bentley finished 3-1 to earn 2nd place and Kyle Hensel and Matt Greatens took 3rd place. Excellent work.

CLUBS:

KEY  CLUB will be hosting the fall Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, Nov. 13th.   Sign-up will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 29th to Friday, Nov. 8th during both A and B lunches. Students need to be at least 16 years old to give blood.  Students who are 16 years old must have a signed parent permission slip.  Stop by the sign up table if you have questions about height and weight eligibility to give blood or see Mrs. Augustinack in Room 200.  Please give a pint to save a life!!!

GENERAL INFORMATION

CHRISTMAS BALL TICKETS will be on sale starting November 25th.  Cost of the tickets will be $15. Christmas Ball is open to Brainerd High School students grades 10-12 and will be held at Cragun's Sports Centre'.  Christmas Ball begins at 7pm until 12 midnight.  If you do not drive and plan on attending, please have your ride there by 12:15 AM.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Linda Dockter in the Career Center.


THE E-LIBRARY is up and running. Now, it just needs students to use it. From the BHS Media Center website, click on Follett e-book Library Sign in with your regular username and password. You may check out a book, keep it a few weeks and not worry about it getting wet, losing it, having it be late or anything else. The system will check it in for you if you forget. Come on BHS- give it a try!
